9,500 NMMC workers to be made permanent – The general body of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) on Friday unanimously approved a resolution to employ around 9,500 contract workers working in its various departments on a permanant basis.

“The contract workers in the city are provided facilities such as provident fund, bonus, gratuity on par with permanent staff. There is however a constant fear amongst them that they could be sacked by a new contractor ” – Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik.
